Causeway Parking Lot to the Mainland; Later Tuesday Afternoon

It might not have ultimately been too much of a surprise which car in the parking lot was Harley's current ride. At least if you happened to know the Chevy Impala was Dean's provided it was even present on Tuesday. The funky 1970s green Chevy Chevelle sedan (four doors, see what she'd said about the back seat?) was of course Harley's: a classic look, but not so flashy as to attract too much attention and immediately get her in trouble as soon as she'd grabbed it from where the very unfortunate previous owner had left it.

Although the main hint that it was hers was still probably that she'd parked her butt on the hood of the thing as she waited for Marc to get there.

Call it a freebie.

Good call. Harley snickered and smirked. "Oh, and its not the only thing gettin' whet."

What, you wanted clever, you were gonna have to bait her when she wasn't kiss-drunk.

"Thinkin' we should take this show on the road," she continued, pulling one of her hands away from Marc only so she could pat the hood of te car. "Show the old gal a good time somewhere... else."

"Gonna admit I was not ruling out this wasn't even the car you stole," Marc told her. He stepped back so she had room to stand, but did offer her a hand down if she wanted it. Maybe if he was thinking about it he would remember it wasn't like Harley needed the help. But, well, he was doing a lot of things without thinking about them right now.

"Ohhh, I shoulda thought of that!" Harley said as she let him help her back to her feet. She didn't need it, but it was still nice! "That would've been funny."

"Keep it for another time," Marc said. "So are we breaking in again or...?"

"What, into the car?" Harley asked, as she produced keys from one of her pockets. "Sheesh, just call me an amateur to my face, why don't ya!"

"My bad," Marc said. He went around to the passenger side to wait for her to unlock it. "Though not amateur hour to assume you don't need 'em."

"I don't, always," Harley confirmed readily, unlocking the driver's side. "But they're nice to have!"

And with that, she slid into her seat so she could lean over and unlock the door for him, too.

The interior of the car was looking pretty good for its age, although it definitely had some major 70s classic vibes to it. And much like the back seat, the front was really all just one continuous thing. Like a couch in a car.

Marc got in and took the measure of it all. "I've had worse."

"Glowing review," Harley replied with a an amused huff.

A few more easy moves and the engine growled to life. (Seatbelt? Did Harley seem like someone who bothered with a seatbelt?) "So! Where to?"

"Dinner eventually?" Marc said. Given the age of the car he was not ruling out any existing safety features would do more harm than good. Also he wouldn't stay dead if the worst happened so, yanno.

"Drive for a while then stop when we find a place?"

"Eh, works for me!"

It was sort of how Harley went about her entire life, these days.

And with that, the car pulled out of the parking space. Not too carelessly - Harley may not have been the most safe of drivers, but even she wanted them to at least get out of the parking lot and over the causeway before causing any major damage to anything - but perhaps with a little more speed than was wise or necessary.

... And no, she wasn't going to be causing damage later, either! Probably.

Marc had anticipated this would be Harley's driving style so it didn't throw him, other than any potentially sharp turns which made staying in one spot on that long bench a little difficult. Frankly it'd been something he was kind of curious about. How her personality was reflected in her driving style. So as she got them on their way, he mainly watched her.

Harley could drive in a perfectly acceptable manner, was the thing. She was doing so right here, as she got them over the causeway and onto the mainland side. But she preferred to drive fast and unpredictable, like someone with a little too much experience outdriving cops in pursuit.

Once they made it to the mainland side and got on actual streets, she was somewhere in between. On the fast side, a little sharp and sudden on turns, but only enough to piss off other people on the road, not enough for anyone to call the cops on her.

Probably.

"Shout out if you see anything interesting enough to stop for!"

"Could go for a diner," Marc said. Not that he'd spotted one yet, but just to throw a preference out there. Nobody wanted to be the "I don't know, what do you want?" person when aiming for dinner plans.

Harley had often been that person in the past. She'd been trying to kick the habit.

And right this moment, she was apparently the "Ooh, that could work, I would love some diner pie for dessert!" person, since that was what she said.

And the "And I'll entertain any good makeout spots you see, too!" person, as well. That part came complete with a little wink, even.

"I thought that's what the back seat was for," Marc said.

Look at him remembering things.

Sometimes the important things stuck, apparently!

"Obviously," Harley replied, on a laugh, "but even I can't make out in the back of a moving car I'm also driving. Unfortunately! 'Cause the adrenaline rush in that sounds amazing."

Funny how that happened sometimes!

"I can believe you've at least tried though," Marc said.

Harley shook her head.

"Only in the front."

Which did provide Marc with some mental images of what she might be referring to. Regardless, "I'm okay if you focus on driving for right now."

Harley shrugged, easy and light.

"Ah well, your loss."

It really wasn't. But, oo, a stretch of road to go faster in, don't mind if she did!

In a way this brought up a thought that had been on and off in the back of Marc's mind since the last time he saw Harley. He debated saying something, really wanting to not because saying shit so often did not work out for him. But then he figured fuck it. Things he normally did didn't exactly have a good track record of being the right thing to do with Harley so sure. Do what he usually wouldn't.

"You know you don't have to do anything to surprise me, right?"

Harley looked over (yes, while going fast, she still had a sliver of her attention on the road, it was fine!), looking like any significance in what he'd just said wasn't really computing.

"Okay?" she said, in a tone that suggested she was just grasping at a guess of a correct response.

Marc shrugged. "I'm just saying."

With not nearly enough words, no.

"Okay?" Harley said again, thankfully turning her gaze back to the road again. "Didn't think I was?"
