Harley was having a quiet day in.

... What? It happened! It was allowed! Even the most high energy rogues had to take days off sometimes. There was a marathon of some awful reality show on the TV - oh, also, she had a TV now, a vintage one with a great aesthetic and terrible reception! - and she had a comfy onesie on and a takeout order on the way.

What more could a girl need?

It'd been almost a week since that weird phone call. Which Marc still didn't really know what to do with but it felt like maybe he should do something? Maybe?

Look, even feeling that was weird. He wasn't gonna examine it.

And sure he could call Harley to see how she was doing but since the last phone call had been, as already mentioned, weird he figured maybe try in person. Not like it was a long walk from his place to hers.

So there he was, trying to see if the door to Needful Things was locked.

Unfortunately it was, this time.

But there was a delivery guy heading that way, too! Not that he had a key either, but... More the merrier?

Not like Marc was going to complain about Harley doing some basic security on her shop. Not that it was really needed on the island but still. Marc was Marc.

He gave a nod at the delivery guy and waited, figuring two birds one stone here, so to speak.

The delivery guy gave Marc a nod back as he got to the door, and then did something on his phone.

It didn't take long before a light turned on in the store, and Harley (this time in a new, fetching galaxy onesie) could be seen in glimpses through the windows, before the door got yanked open with a big flourish, and...

"Marc?" Big eyes, lots of blinking. "You deliver food now?"

The delivery guy cleared his throat, holding out the bag.

"... Oh, right."

"I have good timing now," Marc replied.

Then, since who the heck knew, "Or just timing."

"Hunh."

Harley blinked some more, but managed to both take the bag and tip the delivery guy - who eyed them both for a second, then promptly left because this was none of his business, and it seemed possibly complicated.

"Well, didja... wanna come inside?"

"If you're up for it," Marc said.

"I think it's usually you who has to be up for it to come inside," Harley replied, weirdly earnest for such a dirty joke. But it may have been reflexive babbling. Just a little bit.

She nodded her head, almost right after, towards the back of the store.

"Come on, then."

"Delivery guy wasn't my type," Marc replied. He headed in the direction she indicated, not going fast to make sure she was joining him.

Harley closed the door, then skittered along after him.

"Of course not! First of all, I don't think he was a woman. You seem like a real stickler for that."

"Exactly," Marc said. "Dead straight out the gate."

No pun intended.

"Well, good thing I gave him a good tip, since you won't be."

The door into the back room was open, as would be the door at the top of the stairs, into the apartment.

Marc kept going towards Harley's apartment.

"A good tip?" he asked.

"Yanno, like--" Harley started, then waved her free hand even though he probably couldn't see it, really, wiuth her trailing behind him. "Nevermind. Joke."

"Right," Marc said. He didn't turn around to see the gesture, no. But only because he didn't know there was a gesture to turn around for. "I don't get those."

"Sometimes ya do," Harley felt compelled to say. "This just probably isn't... sometime."

"Kinda not getting a lot," Marc said. He may not have been thinking just of their current conversation.

Harley still assumed he was!

She also gave his butt a little pat. Totally just encouragement for him to now step over the threshold into her apartment as they came upon it now. (It did have a weirdly encouraging feel to it. Compared to, you know. Most times she got her hands on his ass.) "Sure you're doin' just fine."

It said a lot that Harley could do little gestures like that. Both touch as a concept and initiated where Marc couldn't see it. Funny the things that didn't set off his boundaries these days.

"How 'bout you?" he asked, looking her over.

"Huh?" Harley asked, eyebrows all high again. "I'm great at getting jokes! And other things!"

This was what Marc got for using segues that only made sense in his head.

"How are you doing?" he clarified. "In general, not with jokes."

"Me?" Harley asked. "I'm great! Did ya see I've got a new TV?"

The TV in question was probably older than her.

"Congrats?" Marc offered, not sure if that was the way to go.

Well, Harley seemed to brighten up in response? "Thanks!" she enthused. "It just came in over the weekend! Real convenient for this marathon of --"

She gestured excitedly towards the television, then frowned.

"Actually I can't remember what this show is called," she admitted. "But still!"

"Could head out if I'm interrupting," he told her. He could've called before coming in person but, well, phone. "Don't mean to horn in on your thing here."
