Harley was having a quiet day in.

... What? It happened! It was allowed! Even the most high energy rogues had to take days off sometimes. There was a marathon of some awful reality show on the TV - oh, also, she had a TV now, a vintage one with a great aesthetic and terrible reception! - and she had a comfy onesie on and a takeout order on the way.

What more could a girl need?

Harley's face was close to practically splitting in two. "Say that again?" she teased.

Asked. Whatever.

"Guess that's okay," Marc replied, with a grin that said he knew damn well what she'd been really asking.

Harley huffed, mock affronted, and prodded him in the chest again. "Not that part!"

"Part where I said you're smart?" Marc asked.

The grin was still there.

"... Okay, you can say that one again, too." Because Harley was no fool! "But that's not what I was askin' for!"

"That one again too," Marc said, looking far too pleased with himself.

Harley made a noise that somehow managed to sound offended and impressed and amused, all at the same time. "I dragged you in here to make ya feel good, yanno!" she squawked. "Now I'm not so sure! Ya look like you're doin' just fine on your own!"

Marc was absolutely not doing anything like laughing. Perish the thought. "I'm doing what you told me!"

"You're bein' a little shit," Harley declared, shrill, and clearly holding back a laugh, "that's what you're doin'!"

Marc went to put his hands on her hips if she let him. Looking, for the record, pleased with himself.

"I would never. That's your domain."

"So that's worse!" Harley objected. "You're -- you're encroaching on my turf!"

Funny how she didn't seem to feel the need to argue against him claiming the turf of her hips.

"You're tryin' to out-pain the pain!"

"I could never," Marc said. He was definitely grinning now. "'sides, I thought it was our turf."

"The neighborhood is!" Harley exclaimed. "Not bein' a pain in the ass!"

And then suddenly: a thoughtful headtilt.

"Unless it is?"

"Up to you if I'm being a pain in the ass," Marc told her. But he looked like he suspected the answer and was happy about it.

Was the suspected answer he was happy about 'yes'?

Because: "Obviously!"

"You're welcome," Marc told her. Because yes, it had been what he was happy about. He moved his hands around to the small of her back. "Just doing my part."

But sure, he was never happy about anything!

Harley was beaming at him again. And stepping further into his embrace, sneaking her feet between his. "Oh that's what you're doin', huh? Your part?"

Never. Just like he didn't smile.

"Figured you'd kick me out if I'm useless," he told her. He wrapped his arms around her more now that she was being thoughtful enough to close up some of that space that had been in the way.

"Aw, I would never think you were useless," Harley cooed, sliding one hand up along his arm since it was so enticingly there. "I'd find a use for ya, promise!"

"I'm just saying I'm sure you'd make it clear pretty fast if I wasn't," Marc said. Because hey, he did pay attention to that thing where she spoke her mind if she was unhappy.

"Oh well that part's accurate!" Harley confirmed cheerfully. "You'd know it loud and clear."

Mostly loud, possibly.

"Sometimes I learn," Marc said.

Hey, he had some self-awareness. Sometimes. Ish.

Close enough!

"And I notice and appreciate ya for it," Harley informed him, although her tone was largely teasing. "You're a smart guy sometimes!"

Okay, that was much heavier on the teasing.

"Sometimes," Marc agreed.

Again: Self-aware. Steven could handle most of the brainy stuff. He was fine with that.

"See!" Harley replied, as if they'd had any sort of an argument going. "You're more than just a juicy butt!"

With her free hand, the one that wasn't busy brushing along his arm and shoulder, she helpfully mimed the shape of said 'juicy butt' in the air. Unless it was supposed to signify her squeezing the juicy butt...?

It was not the clearest of gestures. But it looked appreciative!
