... What? It happened! It was allowed! Even the most high energy rogues had to take days off sometimes. There was a marathon of some awful reality show on the TV - oh, also, she had a TV now, a vintage one with a great aesthetic and terrible reception! - and she had a comfy onesie on and a takeout order on the way.

What more could a girl need?

"The neighborhood is!" Harley exclaimed. "Not bein' a pain in the ass!"

And then suddenly: a thoughtful headtilt.

"Unless it is?"

"Up to you if I'm being a pain in the ass," Marc told her. But he looked like he suspected the answer and was happy about it.

Was the suspected answer he was happy about 'yes'?

Because: "Obviously!"

"You're welcome," Marc told her. Because yes, it had been what he was happy about. He moved his hands around to the small of her back. "Just doing my part."

But sure, he was never happy about anything!

Harley was beaming at him again. And stepping further into his embrace, sneaking her feet between his. "Oh that's what you're doin', huh? Your part?"

Never. Just like he didn't smile.

"Figured you'd kick me out if I'm useless," he told her. He wrapped his arms around her more now that she was being thoughtful enough to close up some of that space that had been in the way.

"Aw, I would never think you were useless," Harley cooed, sliding one hand up along his arm since it was so enticingly there. "I'd find a use for ya, promise!"

"I'm just saying I'm sure you'd make it clear pretty fast if I wasn't," Marc said. Because hey, he did pay attention to that thing where she spoke her mind if she was unhappy.

"Oh well that part's accurate!" Harley confirmed cheerfully. "You'd know it loud and clear."

Mostly loud, possibly.

"Sometimes I learn," Marc said.

Hey, he had some self-awareness. Sometimes. Ish.

"And I notice and appreciate ya for it," Harley informed him, although her tone was largely teasing. "You're a smart guy sometimes!"

Okay, that was much heavier on the teasing.

"Sometimes," Marc agreed.

Again: Self-aware. Steven could handle most of the brainy stuff. He was fine with that.

"See!" Harley replied, as if they'd had any sort of an argument going. "You're more than just a juicy butt!"

With her free hand, the one that wasn't busy brushing along his arm and shoulder, she helpfully mimed the shape of said 'juicy butt' in the air. Unless it was supposed to signify her squeezing the juicy butt...?

It was not the clearest of gestures. But it looked appreciative!

"Dunno," Marc said, thoughtfully. "Been called an ass plenty of times..."

"Just take the compliment!" Harley urged, with a laugh where the exasperation was fake but the fondness wasn't. "Sheesh!"

"Thanks?" Marc tried.

Steven wasn't the only one who had problems with those. Not the same problems, but the end result of needing a nudge on a thank you was the same.

It was Harley's turn to look bemused. "Well not if ya don't want it."

"What am I supposed to say?" Marc asked. Sadly genuine curiosity here. "Isn't it a thanks thing?"

"You're not supposed to do anything!" Harley replied, her previously gesturing hand sliding up the side of his head and into his hair. "Fuck 'supposed to'! Thanks is typical, but if it's comin' out as a question 'cause you're not feeling it, then fuck that, I'd rather you just be you."

Not that she had feelings on this, or anything.

"I sometimes suck at being me," Marc said. But he was grinning because c'mon. Sometimes you had to pick the low hanging fruit when it was your brain that was shattered into pieces.

"That's a separate issue," Harley declared. "You're not suckin' at it right now, and I got proof!"

"I'll bite," Marc said, since now he was curious in a new way. "What's the proof?"

"You're here," Harley replied. "In the body, in my lair! And you're holdin' me like I belong all smushed up against ya!"

Please enjoy the very boob-forward way she pressed further against his chest. She was making her point!

"Ain't nobody else in your skull wantin' to do this stuff," she added. "This is you, Marc. This is all you."

Marc held her tighter. Which worked as a comment on him enjoying her physical expressiveness too.

"You gotta point," he said. He tapped one finger against her back. "This one's all me."

Harley's smirk grew wider the tighter he held her. "Damn right!" she said. "And I dragged ya in here with thoughts of makin' you feel good. No one else."
