The Dream House was gone by morning, replaced again with the antique store and the apartment above it, both with all four walls intact, and the color scheme decidedly less pink.

And in said apartment, late in the morning, Harley woke up with a start. Like fully bolting upright and everything, with a gasp.

"... Barbie looks like me."

She couldn't believe it. She brought her hands up to her face, smooshing her cheeks.

"Like me."

This jaw! These cheekbones under her skin!

Something about it was making her eyes well up.

At least, until something else about the weekend came back to her. "Bruce!" Oh, God, he'd been eating something obviously plastic, all weekend long! Harley scrambled out of bed to find him - only to, yes, find him curled up in one of his usual spots, seemingly right as rain.

She still ended up taking him on a long walk around town. It took a while for her to be convinced that just as magically as he'd turned into a toy dog for the weekend, whatever the plastic stuff he'd been eating (and, to be fair, pooping out at what seemed like an alarming rate for a fully functioning gastric system) had just as magically turned into actually edible stuff in his guts when he'd turned back. He seemed fine! He was leaving behind dog shit that was the usual level of disgusting!

Still, between the long walk and then breakfast for both him and herself, the morning had already turned into the afternoon by the time something occurred to Harley, and sent her bolting down the stairs into the store.

There, she found the display of dolls of varying ages and kinds.

And there, tucked near the back, was a Barbie. Harley carefully pulled her out from between a Victorian-ish porcelain doll and a fairly creepy 1950s baby, and smiled down at her.

It was a little watery, but there was no one here to see it, was there?

"Oh, there you are."

Something in her chest ached a little.

"You're such a softie!" Harley exclaimed. Sort of. It was still relatively quiet, especially for her.

It also didn't sound like she minded. The opposite, really.

Also, anticipating something he might say next: "And no, I'm not a rat, so I'm not gonna narc on you for that, either."

"Appreciated," Marc said. He turned to give her another kiss to demonstrate that appreciation.

Clearly Harley should make even more of an effort not to be a rat if that was the reward!

He got kissed back with a happy little hum.

There were all sorts of rewards that she could earn herself if she was looking for them. Ignore how they were coming from the guy who'd once told her he wasn't into physical contact.

Case in point, how he moved his hand from her backside to start caressing her thigh while they were kissing.

Did Harley even remember anymore that he'd claimed that at some point? Because wow, she'd been absolute dogshit about honoring it for a good while now!

Anyway, he was more than welcome to her thigh, and Harley was once again congratulating herself for her shorts. All that leg on show could be good for something other than just helping her stay cool.

... Weatherwise, obviously.

She smirked into the kiss.

Harley did have a habit of slipping past barriers that had kept out most people. Also of making it be something Marc didn't mind.

Possibly indicated by the way he moved his hand up on her thigh and under the hem of her shorts. Just resting there, snug with the cloth helping to hold it in place.

Harley's fingers were playing with his hair, mussing it up worse than she probably had already previously.

And a little distracted.

Marc hated it when she played with his hair. You could tell by the way he kissed her harder. Awful, really, the things he tolerated.

Well, he had all sorts of issues that could lead to doing self-destructive things... Like tolerating someone getting his curls all disheveled.

But then again, that was what he got for canoodling with a known criminal! Who made one of her little 'exclamation point but in sound form' noises and responded in kind, trying to lean in closer in the process when there was nowhere left to go.

Marc made his own sound in response to her sound, since as he'd mentioned moments earlier he did like when she enjoyed herself.

As for closer, there might not have been much space left between them, but there was always kissing harder. That kind of counted as removing some room, right?

Kind of! It also counted as making Harley all breathless again, but you know what? She was a-okay with making that sacrifice!

Even if it also meant her hands tightened in his hair. Yes, she knew, another terrible affront.

Horrible. Absolutely horrible. You could tell by the way Marc nipped at her lips before resuming that thing where he tried to make her breathless.

And if the next tug seemed more deliberate? What then?

Apart from Harley kissing him back, breathlessly.

Then it would get Marc digging his fingers into her thigh since that was the closest thing he had to something to grab on to.

It'd also get him kissing her harder because there was far too much breathing going on. On both their parts.

.. Well, screw striving for oxygen altogether, then. Harley adored when he got like this, when it felt like he was practically clawing for more. It felt like it sent a jolt of electricity all down her spine, setting her skin tingling.

She gave back as good as she got. Hands tight in his hair, and her lips practically bruising on his.

Marc groaned. Or tried to. Little muffed and busy with the kissing and all. But he could dig both hands into her back and thigh as he held her tight and made it clear how much he wanted to have her.

(That... maybe wasn't entirely about the sex.)

Harley sensed it loud and clear. Possibility even as complex as it was, because there were ways to hold her when the want was just for her body, and Marc... could sometimes get a little more all-encompassing than just that. Or so it seemed.

Not that Harley thought about it much.

Or at all, in this moment.

Still didn't need to pause for breath. Was getting a little restless in his embrace, though. Shifting, squirming, without really meaning to, like there was suddenly a lot of energy in her looking to be let out.

Marc grinned as he felt that squirming. Or as much as he could grin while they were kissing. He lifted his hips up into her to see if that helped her at all.

Well, if the aim was to help drive another strangled noise out of her, then yes! Very helpful! Or to get her to squirm a little more deliberately down into his lifting then yes, that too.

It was like everything that had been building up while she'd been on her knees on the floor was just coming rushing back to her.

There was a definite grin now as Marc kissed her. He moved the hand on her thigh inward, nudging her leg as much as possible given their position.

Oh, was getting smug?

Harley let him nudge her as he liked. Just seemed like the most beneficial thing to her right now.

She was still going to bite his lip, though. Again, the energy had to go somewhere!

Marc bit back. A hard nip, followed by sucking to soothe the ache.

Now that there was room, he moved his hand up her inner thigh, staying on the outside of her shirts so he could go further than he had before.

Harley hissed at the bite, then groaned at the soothing, both of those sensations blending into one. Not unpleasant by a long shot.

Though of course, a lot of her attention was now getting drawn further down, to his hand.

Which made sense because Marc's hand continued further up until he was at a place where he could cup her. Which he did. Not moving, applying steady pressure.

Harley had managed to put such little pressure there so far that even the cupping brought out a little moan.

And made her hips try and grind into the touch. Couldn't blame her for seeking more.
