Barbie Dream House [Needful Things]; Saturday Morning
Barbie was having the best day ever because every day was the best day ever. At least when you were Barbie! Sure, maybe the surroundings of her house weren't looking quite like what she was used to, and she didn't remember having a dog before, but neither of those things were going to stop her from enjoying her usual routine!
A routine that was entirely visible from the street, since there were little in the way of walls on the street-facing side of the building. You know, how buildings usually worked!
So, Serendipity Place and Pie Lane, enjoy watching every girl's best friend do her makeup in front of a mirror with no actual mirror in it, and make breakfast that involves no actual liquid or anything genuinely edible.
Just don't be a creep about it!
(major sp warning in effect for today, but open! BARBIE!)

She was just hanging out in her kitchen - not that that mattered with the complete lack of walls in her building. But at least that part helped her see Marc? And so he was getting a very cheerful wave with a big smile.
"Hi Ken!"

"Where's Harley?"
no subject
"Who?"
no subject
Except before he could leave a thought came to him. A thought that, unfortunately, did not have a name attached to it which meant, damn it, Marc had thought of it himself.
He sighed and asked, "Where's Bruce? The hyena?"
no subject
At least she sounded like she knew what the word meant? Wasn't that something?
She just also happened to be shaking her head.
"I'm sorry, I think you'll want Safari Barbie for that," she said, apologetically. "I don't know anything about any hyenas."
no subject
It was a shame Marc hadn't spent any time cultivating a relationship where Bruce would come if he called. Probably come in handy right now if Bruce was around.

As if on cue, Tanner the dog came trotting jauntily out from somewhere behind the house.
He did not look a single bit like Bruce.
no subject
"Cool," Marc said. "You'll make sure he gets fed?"
Marc didn't care, but Harley would.
Don't ask why that made it acceptable for him to care. Because yes that implied something that Harley cared about Marc cared about by proxy. Shut up, that was why.

Despite acting like she might not, so his whole deal was reasonable.

It wasn't even Bruce so... it'd be fine, right? Whatever happened would be gone by Monday?
no subject
Everything was going to be fine.
"Thanks, I will," Barbie replied, but with a tone like she wasn't sure she should take that at face value. "It's going to be the best day ever."

"If you see somebody who looks like me, ask for Steven," Marc told her.
He suspected the two of them would get along great.

Barbie smiled at the suggestion - which then immediately faltered with just the slightest hint of confusion. "Not Ken?"
no subject
Though in fairness Marc's lack of social life did mean there could be a hundred different Kens on the island and he wouldn't know.
no subject
To put it lightly.
"But everyone else is still Barbies, right? Or Midges and Skippers, or...?"
no subject
Then, since today was full of bullshit, he did add, "Maybe that's different now. I dunno."

To say that his memories of toys in general, let alone toys for girls, was nearly non-existent was a bit of an understatement.
no subject
Don't get her wrong, she liked the sound of that! She just also didn't know what it meant.
no subject
Marc, that was not an explanation.
no subject
"The type of what?"
no subject
Marc should've probably let Steven handle all this but he had stuck around too long and now he had no one but himself to blame.
